Originally founded May 29, 1894 and a member, since 1975, of the Ontario Historical Society. Ours is a totally volunteer-based group, dedicated to the preservation, exploration and promotion of the richly significant history enjoyed by Thorold and vicinity.
SOCIETY MEETINGS AND PROGRAM
Regular meetings take place on the LAST MONDAY OF THE MONTH (September through June), in historic Chestnut Hall – built in 1862, by an industrialist who made his fortune in the California Gold Rush. Chestnut Hall is designated under the Ontario Heritage Act.
COME SEE OUR MUSEUM
Located in Chestnut Hall, come explore displays celebrating various aspects of Thorold’s 200 year history. Access to photographs, newspapers and other archival material is available upon request.
